Rockledge Gardens Wedding | Laura + Alex

You know that moment when you are about to do something that will impact the rest of your life? A flood of emotions come over you all at the same time. You’re excited yet nervous, joyful yet overthinking all the things that are about to change. Waking up the day of your wedding can evoke all these emotions and more. You’re mostly excited to see the love of your life and to say your “I Do’s” at the altar.

Laura and Alex decided to do their first look when they arrived at the beautiful wedding venue, Rockledge Gardens. One of the sweetest moments for me as the photographer was getting to capture all those emotions as Laura was about to walk up to see her soon-to-be husband and as Alex anxiously waited to see his bride in her wedding gown. As Alex turned around to see his beautiful bride, it was as if all their emotions turned into a moment of peace and contentment. They tuned out all the wedding plans that were consuming their minds up until this point. They ignored the two photographers and videographer that were silently capturing the moment. And they were simply content, wrapped in each other’s arms, soaking up what the day would hold for them and their future.

As we walked around the gardens to different locations for their bridal portraits, they were in their own little world together. I didn’t catch them once without a smile on their faces. After their bridal portraits, we went straight into portraits of the bridal party. And let me tell you, it was a PARTY!!! With a total of 18 people in the bridal party, there was tons of laughter and fun (which made my job of getting them to smile too easy).

One thing that really stood out to me on their wedding day was the tightly knit friendships between Laura & Alex and their guests, most of which traveled all the way from their home state, Kentucky. Laura told me beforehand in the questionnaire I sent her that one of the most important things to them is to get photos of all their friends.

If you remember from my blog post about their engagement session, Laura and Alex were the last in their friend group to get married. So I’m sure you could imagine the celebration it was to witness the last couple of the group getting married! As I’m sure you will be able to tell from the photos, there was lots of joy and excitement. And it made its way to the dance floor as they started off with some line dancing all the way until they made their way through the sparkler exit.

Laura and Alex, you two are so special to me. I’m honored to not only call you clients, but true friends. I can tell just by the way you look at one another that there is nothing but pure love in your hearts. Thank you for entrusting me with the blessing of being your wedding photographer. I hope these photos are a reminder of the biggest day of your life, but also a reminder of why you love each other. God bless you both and your marriage!
